A New Direction for Fargo: Listening. Leading. Delivering.
It’s an honor to serve as your State Senator for downtown and north Fargo—and to run for mayor at a pivotal moment for our city.
After more than a decade in the Legislature, I’ve seen what works and what doesn’t. Fargo is strong and resilient, but rising costs, housing challenges, and concerns about safety and quality of life demand leadership that is accountable, pragmatic, and focused on results. As mayor, I will lead with a fresh direction—strengthening neighborhoods, managing city resources responsibly, and listening to every part of our community—so Fargo continues to be a place where everyone can thrive.
Priorities for Fargo
Senator Boschee believes public service should be focused on practical solutions that improve people’s lives. Here are a few of the priorities he’ll advocate for in Fargo:

Fargo is at a crossroads. Rising costs, unresolved homelessness, and concerns about quality of life require leadership that’s honest about what isn’t working and accountable for fixing it. Too many residents feel like City Hall has been managing problems instead of solving them and they’re ready for a new direction. Boschee offers a fresh direction for City Hall focused on outcomes that improve everyday life across Fargo.

Public safety is foundational to quality of life. People deserve to feel safe in their homes, their neighborhoods, and downtown and to know their concerns are being taken seriously. Fargo has made progress lowering crime, and Boschee believes in building on what works by supporting law enforcement, investing in prevention, and increasing transparency and neighborhood engagement so residents feel safe where they live.

Residents deserve confidence that their tax dollars are being used wisely. Fiscal responsibility isn’t about saying no, it’s about prioritizing what actually improves quality of life and reduces long-term costs. It also means coordinating, not duplicating, efforts that improve long-term outcomes. Boschee brings a pragmatic, fiscally responsible approach to prioritizing city budgets, responsibly managing property taxes, and ensuring essential services are delivered efficiently and fairly across Fargo.

Housing affordability and homelessness affect public safety, workforce stability, and family well-being. Ignoring housing and homelessness doesn’t save money, it pushes costs into emergency response, policing, and strained neighborhoods. Boschee supports a comprehensive, fiscally responsible approach that connects housing, services, and smart policy to reduce crisis response and improve long-term outcomes.

Too many residents feel unheard by City Hall. Boschee will make accessibility and neighborhood presence central to governing. Boschee supports ward-based representation and regular engagement so listening is built into how the city works. Listening isn’t a campaign promise, it's how decisions get better and trust gets rebuilt. (Ward representation is about making sure listening doesn’t depend on who you know or where you live.)
Meet Josh
Senator Josh Boschee was first elected to the ND House of Representatives in 2012 where he served for 12 years before being elected to the North Dakota Senate in 2024. Josh spent most of 2018 running to be North Dakota’s 15th Secretary of State. While he wasn’t elected, it provided him the opportunity to learn more about the diverse communities, industries and residents of our great state. Josh served three legislative sessions as the House Democratic-NPL Leader and is currently the Senate Democratic-NPL Assistant Leader.
Josh serves on several committees in the Senate including the Education Committee, Workforce Development Committee, Employee Benefits Committee, Budget Section and Legislative Management. While in the House of Representatives, he served on the House Industry, Business and Labor Committee and the House Agriculture Committee. As one of the caucus leaders, he spends most of his time on state budget related issues, supporting the priorities of the Democratic-NPL caucus and partnering with other legislative leaders and the Governor to pass policies that improve opportunities for North Dakotans.
When he’s not representing his north Fargo constituents in Bismarck, Josh serves as the Broker for Real Broker, LLC, leading a team of over 120 real estate agents and support professionals in North Dakota and NW Minnesota. Before he jumped into real estate, Josh worked in Student Affairs for ten years at NDSU and MSUM, where he found his passion for helping people establish, implement and achieve their goals.
An avid fan of everything downtown Fargo, in his free time, you can find Josh enjoying the food, sounds and life along Broadway. A veteran of many FM area nonprofit boards, he currently serves on the NDSU College of Arts and Sciences Board of Directors.
